I heard about The Zone from someone on the System Access Mobile Network a month or two backe. I finally decided to check it out and sign up.

I live in a little town in Tennessee USA, with my mom, stepdad, two cats inside and two dogs outside. Except the dogs aren't really ours; they just showed up and well ...

And we just gave away all their puppies ... eleven in all!

But I'm not much of an animal person myself. As you may have guessed from my username, the biggest interest I have is music. I have a huge CD collection, a digital collection on my computer, and I use my iPod when I travel, which isn't very much nowadays. I also listen to music via Spotify, Pandora and sometimes Accuradio. I've had a profile on Last.fm since 2009. So, yeah, I'm really nuts about music. Singing is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I was in a talent contest for four years in a row. I never won, but I went on to take piano and voice lessons. Then, two years ago, after a long period of silence, depression and apathy, I started vocal training again. I now have a program from a great vocal coach I found on YouTube.

I have dabbled a little bit in HTML, just because I had way too much time on my hands and well, why not learn how to make a website? Unfortunately, the one I made no longer exists. Now I don't know what I would make a site about, so I just play around on the computer: experimenting with audio, playing games, writing stories, and seeing how much random stuff I know from FunTrivia.com, and of course listening to music. Man! I really have no life, right? lol

Okay, so I have somewhat of a life outside the connections to my computer and music. I use an exercise bike, and I have been reading some actual Braille hard copy books. Of course I do get books digitally from BARD and Bookshare, which I absolutely love. I don't watch much TV, but sometimes I find myself glued to Investigation Discovery ... Heaven help me!

Speaking of TV, I still watch "Arthur," which is a children's show on PBS. I adored that show when I was a kid, although I'll have to agree with many other fans that the newer episodes just aren't as good as the earlier seasons. I guess it all depends. I also like old shows from the past like "The Andy Griffith Show," "I Love Lucy" and "Leave It to Beaver". I used to watch Discovery Health, when it was Discovery Health. I don't have the new channel and I don't care about OWN. Sometimes I watch singing competitions like "The Voice," but other than that, TV doesn't interest me much.

I enjoy spending time with my nieces when I can, and sometimes I might step outside for a few minutes to get a little sunshine, when it's not cold or raining.

I guess that's all for now. I'll come back later.

I just checked out your profile, sounds like the same stuff I've done as far as talent shows go. I was in 2 bands, I play keyboard, guitar, and am also a singer. I'm from Mississippi but am in Louisiana at the moment, where we live in Mississippi is right outside of Memphis. I've played on beal many many times, have even played at the pbody before, now i'm just trying to find a new band. I'm also gonna see about getting myself a new youtubue up since we lost the info for my other one.

Hey, welcome to the zone.

Ignore the drama and you'll probably have lots of fun.

Hell, don't ignore the drama and you'll probably still have fun.

lol agree with bob. welcome to the zone. I'm from wisconsin. My name is joanne, and i'm a college studet, majoring in early childhood education.
The most I've done with music is play in orchestras during iddle and high school. I realized at some point several years ago that I don't love music enough to want to get a degree in performance and spend the rest of my life doing an unsteady line of work. so I chose to work with kids instead.
In particular, I like the age range birth to five, but the program I have my heart set on teaches people how to work with kids from birth to nine. adding to the early childhood education degree, I would like to learn how to teach in the Montessori school setting. this is a much more child-centered approach, which focuses on the child's natural learning process, not telling kids, "Okay, time to sit here and do this worksheet," or, "Circle time, and today, we're going to listen to a story ..." Not all children do well in such a rigidly structured learning environment.
enough about that. catch you later, and have fun here. again, don't get involved with the drama. i'm usually here perusing and posting to message boards, or playing the occasional anagram or trivia game. sometimes I chat in public quicknotes, but for the most part, I keep to myself.

Welcome to the site from a long time user. Music is also a huge passion of mine as a broadcaster on the net and in general. I'm a collector of rare vinyl and also buying new vinyl with the return of vinyl over the past year or so. I dabbled somewhat in keyboards a long time ago, but it didn't go anywhare. It does get crazy around here, but welcome, and nice to meet you! Do drop by if you'd like to chat!

Hi, welcome to the zone and all its strangeness. It can be interesting here or not, it depends. Smiles.
